On Friday, Dec. 3, Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City hosted its annual Spelling Bee. Students in grades 1-8 competed in three different age-leveled spelling bees. In the first bee, 2nd grader Jay Chung placed first. In the 3rd-5th grade bee, 5th grader Nicholas Theiss came out victorious. This qualifies Nicholas for the City Bee, which will be held in January.

Carson City's Night off the Streets (NOTS) has been taking on the important work of offering nightly shelter for those who have none during the cold winter months. Each year, that need increases within Carson City, and so far, there have been zero deaths from being forced to sleep outside in the community since NOTS took on this role.
